Naousa is located 22 kilometers north of the capital of the prefecture of Veria, 90 kilometers west of Thessaloniki, and 32 kilometers south of Edessa. It is a city with rich vegetation due to the river that runs through it. The Arapitsa, one of the few rivers with a feminine name, serves as a source of oxygen and coolness for the city. The river's springs begin from the grove of Saint Nicholas, which we suggest you visit. There, you can walk under the ancient plane trees, have a coffee, enjoy your lunch at the local taverns, or even engage in sports by playing basketball and tennis in the grove’s courts and swimming in the modern Olympic-sized swimming pool.
Naousa is famous for its traditional carnival and the event "Yenitsaroi and Boules," which attracts a large number of visitors every year to participate and celebrate in the streets of the city. It is also known for its wine production. Many varieties of wine are produced here, but one variety predominates and thrives only in its rocky soils: the Xinomavro. You can enjoy the local wines in the city's shops and wineries, as many of them are open to visitors, offering tastings, cultural events, and harvest reenactments. This phenomenon is particularly frequent in the fall when the city’s stills boil the famous tsipouro and grappa. Each distillation provides an opportunity for gatherings with delicacies and music. Each blend is a personal choice, with results varying, with or without anise. Another product that gives Naousa the chance to bring people together and create moments. Finally, very close to the city is the 3-5 Pigadia ski resort, where during the winter months, you can go skiing, snowboarding, or simply enjoy a hot chocolate in the chalet!
